However, there must be a list of keywords that you can rank for today that are both extremely simple to rank for and still excellent at driving traffic and sales.

Neil, what do you mean by “easy”?
What is simple for my website NeilPatel.com to rank for may be difficult for yours.
And what may be simple for Wikipedia to rank for, may be difficult for my site to rank for.
The term “easy” is subjective to the site. A keyword may be simple or difficult to rank for, depending on your domain authority and the age of your site.
So, when it comes to providing you a list of keywords that are “simple” to rank for, we took that into consideration using Ubersuggest.
The list is based on your website and what you consider to be simple. We use a number of variables to determine this, including domain authority, the age of the site, the keywords you already rank for, and the amount of organic traffic you presently get.
How do you come up with simple keywords that are yet useful?
Now let’s go discover some keywords for which you may begin to rank.
I want you to go to Ubersuggest and put in a term that is relevant to your space, then click “Search.”
If you’re not sure what keyword to use, you may choose anything relevant to your website or something generic. If you run a website that offers “dog food,” for example, you may use the term “dog food” or even “dog.”
I chose the word “digital marketing” in this example since the NeilPatel.com site isn’t only about SEO; it covers all elements of online marketing.
You should see something similar to this report.
It’s a summary of the keyword. It informs you of the number of individuals that search for the term each month. It also breaks out how many people use mobile and desktop devices to search for that term.
Click on “keyword suggestions” in the left-hand menu.
You’ll notice something like this in your report:
This report displays all of the comparable terms to the phrase you entered. These are all the terms and phrases connected to digital marketing in this instance. On that report, there are additional options for linked, inquiries, prepositions, and comparisons. These sections provide you with even more keyword suggestions.
Now, click on the “Page 1 Ranking Potential” button:
You’ll see all the keywords you can rank for after you input your domain.
My ad agency, Npdigital.com, analyzes the results and gives me keywords that are simpler to rank for.
When I type in NeilPatel.com, it doesn’t filter very well since the site has so much authority that I can rank for almost any term.
It filters a lot more when I add fresh new sites. When I put in my holding company site, it gives me terms that aren’t at all competitive, but of course, I have an even smaller list since that site has very little authority.
Once you’ve compiled a list, search for terms that have the following characteristics:
- More than 100 visitors – Just because a term is searched 100 times doesn’t guarantee you’ll receive 100 visits if you rank first. You will only get a little portion of that. As a result, you don’t want to set your sights too low.
- CPC (cost per click) is a term that refers to the amount of money spent on a single click. If you advertise on Google Ads, you’ll spend that much each click. The greater the number, the better, since it usually indicates that the term turns visitors into customers.
- Low SEO difficulty – the lower the “SD” (SEO difficulty) score, the simpler it is to rank for the term. So, start with the terms with the lowest number, provided they satisfy the other two criteria.
- Relevancy – even if a term satisfies the first three criteria, you must ensure that it is relevant to your company. If it has nothing to do with what you do, you shouldn’t spend your time pursuing it. Because you’ve spent time and effort optimizing your site for keywords, traffic simply for the sake of it is a waste of money.
SEO is fantastic, but it takes time.
It’s one of the reasons why some people believe SEO is dead when it isn’t. It’s simply more difficult to rank for popular keywords since it’s more competitive.
